Each time you choose inner growth over outer pressure you become more free.
The motivation to go inward comes in waves. Inspiration to really get it together and make personal changes are naturally sparse–not just for you, but for everyone–and that’s what makes them special. That’s why it’s important to honor your moments of inward inspiration and put that energy to good use when it appears.
One of the reasons the inward path is called a ‘path’ is because it’s linear. You walk for a while, have some insights, let go of a few negative conditioned behaviors, and then rest. Then when you’re ready, you walk a bit more. And no matter how it may seem, one never turns around and walks back the way they came. That’s because once wisdom is known, it can’t be unknown. Even if you return to old negative habits, those experiences are had through the lens of acquired wisdom, which is why they have a little less pull each time.
Given that our walk towards freedom is a long play, making small, consistent advances is how we see the most benefit over time. When you’re feeling inspired, don’t let the vibe go to waste. Put it into something that will serve you for the rest of your life, not just the rest of the night.
When the urge strikes and you want to meditate or read something fulfilling instead of scrolling the night away, choose your growth instead of just falling into what’s habitual. Or take a night to recharge or go for a walk instead of hanging out with friends if that's what feels right.
Listening to your inner voice and maturing your energy is how you get further down the path. There are no tricks and no hacks. Only the results of the choices you make.
