When your energy drops, it doesn’t mean that your value drops.
Ups and downs of energy are natural. We have a few strong weeks where we’re locked into the flow, full of energy, with everything perfectly falling into place around us. The sun feels brighter, jokes are funnier, and we believe that our hopes and aspirations are coming true.
Then, that energy starts to fade. It can happen over a few days or even overnight. Suddenly, our magic flow isn’t firing anymore, our thoughts are scattered, and our energy is lacking. Our hopes now become plagued with self-doubt and imaginary scenarios pop up in our heads about why we were silly to believe they’d come true in the first place.
When this happens, we quickly buy into those thoughts. Because we’re low on energy, we have a hard time defending against our self-criticism and start to believe that our personal value has drained along with our energy.
It’s important to understand in those moments that these downswings of energy aren’t connected to our worth or even our hopes and designs for the future. All energy in nature is cyclical. It swells and then falls again and again. Think of waves rising from the ocean in one moment, then disappearing the next. Or imagine the cycle of a tree, vibrant with leaves one month, nothing but empty branches a few months later, then full of leaves in the spring.
If we take a step back, we can begin to understand this process with more clarity. We swell with energy, do our work (like the sprouting of leaves on a tree), then need time to recharge so we can blossom again.
Remember in these down moments that they’re simply part of the natural process and that your value isn’t any less. Recharge. Take your time. You’re just preparing for the next vibrant display of natural beauty.
