As I get older, it becomes clearer and clearer to me how important community is. And this is coming from a legit lone wolf. Or perhaps a better way to say it is a "location-specific extrovert."
In Buddhism, the Three Jewels are the Buddha, the Dharma, and the Sangha. That breaks down as 1) the one that came up with the teachings 2) the teachings themselves 3) the place where you discuss the teachings with people on the same path to expand your understanding.
Many of us are walking our inner path alone because we don't have people that we can talk to about our journey. That's a shame because connecting on our experience with people on a similar path is not only powerful but crucial. Those perspectives from others often unlock insights we couldn't have had otherwise.
So, my goal is to turn my Patreon into a digital sangha. I'm going to make it a place where we can connect, talk about our paths, learn from, and find refuge in each other. Of course, I'll continue to share guided meditations, exclusive podcasts, and monthly lessons.
I've also had countless requests for mentorship over the years, so I decided to create a limited amount of mentorship level memberships on my Patreon. These will be monthly 30-minute one-on-one calls.
Hope to see you there my friends.
Cory
I was discussing the importance of having a community with my kids just yesterday morning. I am also "location specific extrovert" (that's the first time I've heard it put so accurately), but I have been coming to the same realization.
