Connections are priceless. Yet, it’s a good practice to consider how we’re influenced by the people we spend time with. Being mindful of who we are around is essential to taking charge of who we are. That’s because we absorb the traits of the people that surround us. So, if we intentionally choose who we are around, we can be sure that the influences we’re picking up contribute to who we want to be.
When you consider the people you know, think about how they make you feel.
Do you feel comfortable when you’re with them?
Do they make you feel good about yourself?
Are they honest with you in a caring way?
Do they introduce you to new things that inspire you?
Do they consistently set goals and reach them?
Do they reach out to you as much as you do to them?
Are they on the same path of growth that you’re on?
Can you count on them when you need them?
If a person you know has qualities like these or any other things that you find valuable, then you should intentionally spend your time with them. In fact, if someone you know has potent, wholesome qualities, you should be mindful of getting closer to them to invite more good vibes into your life.
On the other hand, if some relationships don’t make you feel good, it’s important to listen to what you’re feeling. Some signs of negative relationships to watch for are:
You feel anxious around them and unwelcome.
You never feel like they are giving you their attention.
You feel like an accessory to their lives.
You know that they haven’t been honest with you.
They play you and other people against each other.
They are controlling and don’t care about your opinion.
You observe them treating other people poorly.
You are always the one that has to reach out to connect.
If you have relationships with this kind of energy, being honest about them is important. These relationships may not have felt this way when they started. Or maybe you’ve grown while others haven’t. Whatever the case, you have to confront the fact that by remaining close in that relationship, you are choosing to bring that energy into your life. And by doing that, you’re subtly absorbing the qualities you dislike.
In either situation, it is good to ask yourself: if you met this person as who they are today, would you want to start a relationship with them?
Mindfully picking your people is a powerful practice. Looking at your relationships in an insightful way helps you understand what environment you’re placing yourself in. Then, with that awareness, you can consciously decide what energy, habits, and perspective you want to surround yourself with.
People change. You change. Choosing who you’re around is a continuous process. So being mindful of where things are at is wise. It allows you to influence yourself by choosing who is around to influence you.

So important for each of us to develop our intrinsic SENSE of discernment, beyond the externally imposed ideals and distortions of how relational dynamics should look. We need to FEEL how the invisible threads of connection impact the ecology of our lives. We are beings birther from the core symphony of reciprocity, yet a majority of our entanglements in the present expression of human-ness have a tone of wounded attachment from one end or another. As a species, we have lost our ability to relate harmoniously and rather, tend toward maintaining relationships that deplete our Essence and syphon from our Life Force. In my journey of integrating with my Wholeness, so many connections in my life diminished. As my Wholeness Intelligence restored my clarity and awareness, I could no longer bypass my hearts directive of reciprocal harmony. Important exploration for all of us humans as we remember INTO our Primal Knowing, our Wholeness, our Symbiotic Resonance with Earth.
