Is it ironic that I’m reading this in line at the grocery store?
I recently started making myself only focus on my coffee in the morning. It’s kind of relaxing to give yourself permission to just do one thing. I never thought of it as mono-tasking but your essay is inspiring me to bring this into more areas of my life.
"Monotasking is focusing on one thing at a time. By intentionally practicing it, we can retrain our brains, reshape our neuroplasticity, and bring focus, clarity, and ease back into our lives."
i very much appreciate the word and concept of "Monotasking."
As a parent of three small kids, it feels like I am constantly doing a million things at once. But, this is a great reminder that we can simplify in our own way, and hopefully catch a glimmer of clarity in the chaos.
Corey, man, you nailed it. We’ve all bought into the lie that being busy means we’re important. But multitasking is just making us scattered and stressed. I’ve found that when I focus on one thing at a time, whether it’s working, drinking tea or even breathing - it’s like life slows down, and suddenly, everything makes more sense.
One thing I’ve added? Breathwork. Seriously, it’s like hitting a mental reset button. Focus + breathing = calm and clarity. Who knew? Anyway, thanks for reminding us to stop living in a mental dumpster fire and just be in the damn moment. Much needed!
I think I'm calm when I write
I think I'm calm when I dance. If I break off from the world and turn off all the noise, I think that's when my inner peace comes

“Be present in your life instead of living in an absent illusion of future projection.”
This sentence got me. A statement that breaks through hard. I’ve memorized it for frequent use. Thank you!
So glad it resonated 🙏🏻
